Our #smarthome is mostly local. Except that everything is connected to Apple Home. Via #Scrypted and #HomeBridge.

But man, Apple took way to many shortcuts when it comes to Home. The app is a mess.

• Nothing is clear what is on App basis and what is home configuration for everyone.
• I want recordings via Apple Secure Video at night when we’re home. Not possible.
• Robot vacuums. One of the top 3 smarthome appliances. Doesn’t exist in Home.

I use #Homebridge for other things, but I no longer use it for cameras. #Scrypted is superior in that regard.

Die Installation hat gerade mal 1h gedauert, inkl. Wechsel des Hutschienen-Trafos, Anbringen des G4 sowie der Integration in #Scrypted und #HomeKit.

There really is no good #homekit secure video floodlight camera. Meh. Returning the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight. Onto the next few, Amcrest and Foscam with #scrypted.

Anyone else out there using a Ring doorbell with Scrypted? Mine was working great up until a few weeks ago, when it started going offline several times a day, only to come back online after a few minutes 🤔

@bryan ooh, TIL about #scrypted ! I've been using unifi protect for a while, and mostly like it but still have some qualms. I'll definitely have to look at scrypted.

Finished re-setting up #scrypted for #homeKit #secureVideo. Works amazing with my old system over rtsp. Struggled to get it working in #docker on #wsl2, ended up doing the manual install on wsl2 with fixed IP and bridged network.
