New cable arrival, thanks to @KirkIsmay 😊
I'm so appreciative of this, it will come in very handy! Thank you 🙂
Feels just a tiny bit ridiculous to emulate a #scsi device with GHz device for a 33Mhz #computer

pored over #Ratoc manual & DOA #SCSI FAQ (https://www.dogsonacid.com/threads/sampler-scsi-faq.25648/ 🔥) & remembered how fussy SCSI is w/ IDs, boot order, etc. so, powered everything down, set sampler SCSI ID to 6 (it was 7, but Ratoc wants to use that) & told it to avoid 7. powered on Mac, waited for everything to settle, powered up VM ... "new hardware found"! 🤓 installed Ratoc driver, ignored "Emulator IV"(!) ... #BSOD, ugh. reboot, tho'? plain sailing - set up SMDI device in ReCycle, transferred a preset, aaaand ... BOOM 💥
I did not imagine this Frankenstein of a connection to my veteran scsi slide scanner would just work. Literally plugged it all in and VueScan found the scanner and produced an image. I was expecting many, many hours of troubleshooting for this to work. My digital hoarder tendencies that resulted in keeping a pci scsi card for multiple decades with no reasonable expectation of it EVER being used have now been vindicated.

@gondo Btw., my first hard drive was a #Seagate ST-225 MFM drive (20 MB). Soon after that, I got a #Quantum 105 LPS (#SCSI), which was a 100 MB SCSI drive that used to pause operations every minute or so to recalibrate its heads. 🤣
But both were blazingly fast compared to floppy disks and also had enormous storage capacity. 👍
SCSI Rider 2 is the riser card for the 50pin SCSI devices to db25. The PCB arrived today and is complete👍

So, because #SCSI has a large chunk of the command set dedicated for vendor extensions, you could implement PD, SCSI-PD, :akithimk:

To boldly go where nobody has gone before ...
.. repairing a CD300 Plus :).
Had a non-working CD300 Plus which I decided to crack open today. No bis obstacles on disassembly - did of course clean the lens and disassembled up to the rails. De-greased/oiled them, re-greased with white lithium grease.
Drive working again. Did contemplate a moment replacing the caps but decided on a later date ...
