Should I distro hop my work (!) machine to #OpenSUSE Tumbleweed (and fight with its lack of polkit setup and "hurr durr durr just use the root password" attitude),

Should I make a fair attempt at troubleshooting the problems I'm having with #EndeavourOS?

I'm getting some strange behavior with #sddm, #KDE #Plasma, and #Wayland.

My login (selecting Plasma Wayland session) dumps me into an Xorg screen with 3 xterms. I then have to 'sudo systemctl restart sddm' and log in again...etc..

Finally, with #sddm 0.20.0 my laptop is not running any #Xorg process. Took a while, but it is fully #wayland now 🎉

At long last, #SDDM 0.20 released with initial #Qt 6 support and #Wayland.

Wayland support is still marked experimental, but it is enabled by default with the git snapshot shipped by #Fedora 38. Works fine, at least for me.

Ugh, I soooo wish, this #KDE #sddm would NOT show itself in 3840x1080 on the external display but use it's best (5120x1440) instead. It's just so wrong.
I *guess* it comes because for some reason (no idea why), this display lists 3840x1080 before 3840x2160 before finally 5120x1440 - which is broken in itself. Still, #xrandr calls in a Xsetup file don't work and I can't find how else I could convince this thing to do it right. 😒

@BalooUriza Maybe you didn't... might it have been instead a crash of #plasmashell, #KWin, or #SDDM ?

I am amazed that I have been able to make no progress WHATSOEVER in figuring out how to configure #sddm in #sericea. There's no documentation that I can find for it or #kinoite regarding where #sddm is configured.

So, for example, I cannot set #sddm for #hidpi.

Дошли руки до #fprint настроить на моем новом ноуте. Оказалось не просто, а очень просто. Теперь открываю локскрин одним прикосновением пальца.

Два момента. В современной Плазме совсем нестрашно не ставить ввод пароля впереди остальных методов, как советует #archwiki. #Плазма всё равно спросит пароль, если всё остальное не сработает.

Второй момент, я не стал ставить фпринт в #SDDM, потому что на старте всё равно пароль нужен, чтобы расшифровать #KWallet. Ну а раз пароль всё равно надо вводить, то почему бы и не ввести его в положенном месте.

А вы какие ещё интересные моменты знаете про сканер пальца на ноутбуках?

Just now did a small batch of #ArchLinux updates [only 22 pkgs], a couple of days after the last lot which included the nice #KDEPlasma 5.27.0, logged out & toggled to tty2, used `needrestart` to restart the various services sans-reboot, toggled back to #SDDM & logged back in, then before relaunching my #FirefoxNightly & #Thunderbird again i just took a moment to gaze contemplatively at my #Wayland desktop, & reflected for the umpteenth time; how GREAT is #FOSS!!

Уже и DPI выставил (как видно, с ним проблем нет), но надо как-то sddm прописать разрешение экрана.

Когда залогинюсь - всё нормально, а вот логин скрин тупой :(
