Congratulations to the Giants for beating the Padres again last night 4-2 due in large part to plate blocking call against the Padres in the bottom of the 5th. & the Giants' relievers did the rest by holding the Padres to only 2 runs.

Regarding the call, it was clear to me that the Sanchez (the Padres' catcher) violated the obstruction rule because "he . . . both blocked the plate without possession the ball (while he was waiting to receive a throw from Tatis) . . and also hindered or impeded the progress of the runner (Sobol) attempting to score" in violation of the obstruction rule.

So, I think it was a "good call."

In any event, the win extends the Giants' win streak to 10 which they reportedly haven't done since May 20-31, 2004 when Felipe Alou was the manager.

However, the hottest team in the MLB is actually the Cincinnati Reds who are on an 11 game win streak which has put them in 1st place in their division.

Well, the Giants do it again beat the Padres tonight 4-3, extending their win streak to 9 but it's how they did it which was admirable from a baseball POV.

DeScalfani gave up 3 runs in 5 innings but Beck & T. Rogers hold the Padres scoreless for the rest of the game & and Giants CLAWED their way back 1 run at a time.

In the 4th w/the bases loaded Conforto hits into a DP which scores 1; Padres lead 3-1.

In the 7th, Crawford hits a single scoring Matos. Padres lead 3-2.

In the 8th, Pederson hits a SPLASH HR. Game tied 3-3.

And, in the 9th, Matos walks, Bailey singles & Schmidt walks to load the bases and then Pederson is walked scoring Matos. Giants win 4-3.

How the Giants won this game reminded me of the the following quotes from movie "Moneyball":

“You get on base, we win. You don't, we lose."

“When your enemy’s making mistakes, don’t interrupt him. Let him keep going."

These are the keys to how the Giants won tonight and last night's game, as well.

Another incredible late/extra innings comeback by the Giants to beat the Padres 7-4 last night to extend the Giants' win streak to 8 games in a row!!!! 😎

Gotta give a lot of credit to the really poor relief performance of Garcia & Carlton for the Padres who walked 4 of the 7 hitters they faced and a WP by Garcia that scored one of the 2 runs to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th.

Doval was sent into hold the Padres in the top of the 10th and did a great job!

He started the inning facing Machado w/men on 1st & 2nd (the designated runner and an intentional walk to Soto who already hit 2 HRs in the game) who he got to SO after an 11 pitch duel & then got the last 2 outs on a grounder & fly ball.

The Giants then win on a 3 run walk off SPLASH HR by Yaz scoring Pederson (DR) & Estrada (IBB)!!!!

Go Giants!!!! 🥳

at should be fun today. Clayton Kershaw (5-1, 1.89 ERA) vs. Yu Darvish (1-2, 3.60 ERA)

As much as I hope the Dodgers lose every game by either a blowout or a crushing close game, I'm never dissing Clayton Kershaw.

The only good thing about LA winning in 2020 was Kershaw finally getting a ring after his postseason struggles. I also liked Bellinger and very few other Dodgers. I'll happily boo future HOFer Mookie, though.

They have had bad hitting stretches the last couple of years so, even with an improved lineup, it will not be a surprise if it keeps happening this year

sign (currently) 1B Jake Cronenworth to a 7-year, ~$80 million contract.

Surprised he wasn't used as a trading chip, and while he played 2B as a rookie, I'm happy to see him at first and give HaSeong Kim regular time at 2B.
