Need to fix a couple things, but should be attempting to either disable or neuter the #Intel ME tonight.

Just in case anyone is looking for this info, you *CAN* use #Libreboot and #OpenBSD with #FullDiskEncryption (#FDE).

You just have to flash a libreboot ROM with a #SeaBIOS payload, and both the physical volume and the #encrypted disk (e.g., sd0 and sd2 from install environment, assuming that sd1 is the usb media) must be formatted as #MBR.

#GPT will *not* work.

I really like the idea of #Haiku, as well. #SerenityOS piques my curiosity, as it is FOSS, fairly Unix-like, and totally 90s-themed by design.

I wish I had a *stack* of old #Thinkpads to try all these OSes on. :D

I'm also very interested in #OpenBSD. My project at the moment (aside from various little programming hobby horses) is to flash my thinkpad with #LibreBoot and #SeaBIOS so that it can boot into an encrypted OpenBSD disk.

Gotta try to get it to compile, first! XD

Yeah, I might try #VoidLinux or #MXLinux, both of which have been recommended highly.

I'm liking #Devuan so far on this X200, but I worry about some packages not working right. MX has the systemd-shim, so that helps things.

Also tempted to go with #ArtixLinux because 'dat AUR be fiiiiine.

Ah dang, I still haven't worked on getting an updated #LibreBoot with #SeaBIOS on this X200 so I can boot into #OpenBSD with #FDE. Grrr. Too many fun projects. :D

Good to know. I'm running badblocks on the thumb drive, just to see if that might be the issue.

Does anybody know how to boot in text mode into #FreeBSD installer? I'm getting rough graphical glitches on my #libreboot #Thinkpad x200 machine when booting it normally from #seabios. I want to try out FreeBSD on laptop but I can't see anything when its.. like that..

Someone recommended to boot in text mode/VGA text version (https://lr.mint.lgbt/r/libreboot/comments/szhseb/libreboot_20211122_with_bsd_thinkpad_x200/) but I have NO IDEA how to do it. Searching it up didn't bring up anything meaningful.

@kafazen Linux как ядро движется в опасном и негативном направлении и я не вижу, чтоб ситуация становилась лучше. FreeBSD же я выбрала из-за совместимости с железом, фрешпортов (мне нужно специфич. ПО, например, китайская раскладка ibus, такого в той же OpenBSD не нашла), а также их талисмана - дьяволёнка)), да... Поставить его на #Thinkpad у меня из-за графических глюков с #libreboot в #seabios не получилось, поэтому я решила на десктоп, на котором кляксы мне всё равно для железа как раз нужны.
