"Past, Present, Future". This was taken in Seaham (UK). What I thought was going to be a dull sunrise ended up surprising me and the couple standing between that and the statue of a soldier, said to me anyway - past (statue), present (the couple) and the future being that they are looking off into the sunrise.

A dusting of snow overnight across parts of North East England.
Even though it was feeling cold, the sparkling late Winter sunshine was quickly helping the snow to disappear.
Fantastic view this morning looking down the Durham Heritage Coast from Noses Point in Seaham, Co Durham.

Seaham Harbour lighthouse, on the Co Durham coast, looking smart this afternoon in the late Winter sunshine after a new paint job.
Last time I looked, it was streaked with rust, perhaps not surprising as it often has to stand up to some pretty ferocious seas.

My previous post showed Seaham on the Durham Heritage Coast looking all calm and serene at daybreak. Well, it's not always quite so sublime.
The pier is popular with sea anglers, only not perhaps, when it's in an angry mood like this.
On a different visit, a great illustration captured of the real power of the sea!

Living on the east coast of the UK means you get to see some cracking colourful starts to the day, although you will have to be up and about much earlier in the coming weeks.
Remembering that day back in July last year when temperatures records were being smashed across the UK – you could hardly see the sand on Seaham's 'Slope Beach' for sun-bathers.
On this occasion, I had this spot on the Durham Heritage Coast all to myself.

Temporary art seen on railway station. St Mary’s is the ancient church of the vanished village community; Seaham Harbour was created in the 19th century a mile south. More images at instagram.com/thesaurus_of_chu. ⁦

The North Sea, viewed from the back of Stavordale Street in Dawdon, Co Durham.
Film location for actor Jamie Bell, playing 'Billy Elliot', dancing his 'angry dance', to the Jam's 'A Town Like Malice'.

Sometimes the shot you plan for is not the shot you achieve. That's not always a bad thing.

One of my great passions is yet I simply haven’t had the energy or the inclination over recent months, the irony being that it’s one of the things that would help fix me.

But a curtain’s lifted lately and I finally felt able to meet up with my paddling buddies today for a foray into the from Harbour.

With oystercatchers darting all around, a stately 1.5 metre rolling swell greeted us. What a welcome back to the high seas for a little bit of fixing.
