Living in Cornwall, I feel this is a good thing. Places for long term lets have decreased and some villages and towns have become largely transient populations. It - in some cases- has changed the character of the place. Plus if trying to buy, you're priced out of the market and options are limited.
Long term renters may be made effectively homeless by the desire to do short term lets/holiday lets.

When it comes to fixing housing problems, we can learn from lessons from Wales.

Local authorities can now set and collect council tax premiums on second homes and long-term empty properties at up to 300%.

"This means, for example, that a £1,000 bill for a permanent resident could be as much as £4,000 for a second home owner."

Naturally the Welsh Government is Labour-led.

The one thing I don't hate about #KateForbes is actually that her candidacy focuses things a bit more away from the central belt to the #highlands and islands. I would even support Christian things like every Sunday, all shops close and work stops, hospitality workers who work Sundays get 1.5x salary

It's just unfortunate that she looks at #highlandsandislands and thinks: let's DEREGULATE AND ECONOMIC GROWTH instead of maybe banning #airbnb and #secondhomes
