弘法大師が比叡山にならって建立

根本寺

塚原三昧堂
《 佐渡市新穂大野 》
本間重連は佐渡の守護として鎌倉の北条宣時（武蔵守）からは、日蓮聖人を餓死か病死にせよという内々の命令がでてた。しかし、執権からはやがて赦免するので、日蓮聖人の身辺の安全を確保して過ちがないようにとの命令がでていましたので、佐渡の僧俗にたいしては公平な手段をとるように納得。日蓮聖人が学僧として法論談義を提案したことは、本間重連の面目をたもつことになり、これが塚原問答へ展開。
