#Section19b and the #MigrationBill
Under the 1998 HRA, which enshrines the European Convention on Human Rights into UK law, a minister presenting a bill must make a statement confirming that the bill doesn't break human rights law. However, #Braverman has made a #Section19B statement, under which the minister in charge of the bill [herself] states they are “unable to make a statement of compatibility” but that the “G'ment nevertheless wishes the House to proceed with the Bill”

@Loukas Normally, what SHOULD happen is the law should be codified with Section 19a, a “statement of compatibility”
This is applied to most bills as they make their way through Parliament.
However, she, in some respects quite brazenly, uses #Section19B because she cannot say her act is compatible.
