US & Canadian Feds have extended their warrantless spying on citizens from suspected terrorist activity to mundane things like gun-shows.

The ATF hires foreign agents like RCMP officers (who have no jurisdiction!) to spy on Americans on US soil. This way they get around 4th Amendment requirements.

"In a rare, friendly move to low-income renters, Texas lawmakers this year outlawed a form of discrimination that allowed homeowners associations to ban some tenants from their neighborhoods.

"The move — spearheaded by state Rep. Chris Turner, a Grand Prairie Democrat — was aimed squarely at a North Texas neighborhood that tried to oust poorer tenants who get assistance from the federal housing choice voucher program and keep new ones from taking their place. The voucher program, known as Section 8, pays a portion of a low-income household’s rent."

This story is a great example of how housing vouchers can only do so much especially for disabled because discrimination based on credit scores or a lack of positive letter from your previous apartment can exist outside of discrimination on the basis of income.
