Wading through the terminology is quite a learning curve, particularly since I want to explain it to family and friends so they would actually want to use it.

I've never understood people's gripes about #DMs being read. OF COURSE they're not private...these platforms have never promised that. It's not just Mastodon.

People should always have been using their own #SecureMessaging solution. I've been using Wire's basic plan as an encrypted solution for years, but some folks I know refuse to do anything different from what they have always done.

My preferred method is to skip to the end and just carry around a brick. Attaching a message to it and throwing it is a pretty effective way of communicating, provided the recipient is using windows.
