It appears that #Google is going to incorporate #GenerativeAI in its #Lookout app for Android users to enable #blind people to get detailed image descriptions and queery the system to get details and ask questions. The feature is based on a model developed by Deepmind. It goes in a closed beta today with wider availability soon.
I wonder if #SeeingAI will have something similar soon.

Has anyone used the #SeeingAI indoor navigation function in a real life environment? I’ve only tried it as a test in my own home.
the set-up process of spinning around & around while moving your phone must surely be awkward & embarrassing if in a public place. And why not have a feature to trace the route in reverse direction?

I took my young grandson to our local shop to get a few things. I had very disappointing results from #SeeingAI which failed to read several packages. When it did read a bar code on some milk, it told me it was full fat although my grandson insisted he knew from the colour of the lid that it was semi-skimmed. When SeeingAI identified semi-skimmed, he said the lid was the wrong colour. I checked with an assistant & it turned out my grandson was right, & SeeingAI was wrong. Disappointing. #A11Y
I updated to the latest JAWS version today. Disappointingly, the dialog boxes which appeared during the process were not accessible. I could activate the buttons, but could not access the text tellling me why I needed to use the buttons. That’s pretty poor from an accessibility company. #SeeingAI solved the problem, but it should never have arisen in the first place.

@MonaApp if you view a photo using the view media post action on a toot while voiceover is running on iOS, voiceover stops reading. Typically when you show an image and the #Accessibility setting to describe images is turned on you can hear the image description and any text on the image. It would be great if we could navigate that screen and if there was a share button to allow the image to be sent to a third party app like #seeingai to further describe the image. Thanks.
There’s been an interesting update to the #SeeingAI app. On the World tab, you can now set up indoor navigation routes which can be followed by listening to audio feedback. It seems to work pretty well, although establishing a starting point involves turning in circles several times which might not be ideal in some circumstances.

#SeeingAI #update available. A great app that everybody should have, especially since it is totally free. Its introducing indoor navigation. Here is what it says, • Indoor Navigation, available on iOS 14 and later, enables you to create routes through a building, and later follow that route, guided by spatial audio cues. For example, create a route from the reception desk to your office, or building entrance to a particular classroom. You can share the route with others, so they can navigate the route later on, using their own device. • On the World Channel, when using headphones which support Spatial Audio, you no longer need to look in the direction of the camera. Seeing AI will adjust to the direction you’re looking, so sounds still come from the correct point in the room. Supported headphones include AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro. • Improved announcements of people on the World Channel, when using a device with LiDAR. • Plus, various bug fixes under the hood.
Danke!

The @Microsoft@twitter.com #SeeingAI app may be able to identify an item by its barcode but it is no so good at informing me that this is an empty packet and I need to buy more….🤣
