Look people, the fact you nearly all (70%) put yourself as neurodivergent on these fucking surveys says a lot. Us normies are the odd ones out and we should be taken care of accordingly. You're not the ones looking for answers, we are! Stop trying to be the cool kids, we're the weirdos now.

@Moondancer0X The feeling of being "broken" or "different" is very common among autistics self diagnosed or otherwise.
I too felt the same, however when a counsellor suggested I may be autistic I disagreed initially as I didn't fit what I thought autism was.
However after research, like you I realised I had more in common than I first realised.
even suspecting is good which is why #SelfDiagnosis is 100% valid.
Getting confirmation is nice but not necessary . You know you better than Drs do.
Just came across a TikTok account where the creator was arguing with people in the comments about how #SelfDiagnosis is ableist………….. bro
My insurance will only cover less than half of the cost ($2,500) for a private #ADHD assessment. Apparently as an adult I can’t get an assessment that’s covered by provincial insurance. Well… looks like I won’t be going that route. I believe #SelfDiagnosis is perfectly valid, but I don’t think my imposter syndrome would let me do that. I might have to just try looking up #accommodations I can make for myself and seeing if they help…

Autism had a heavy stigma and I didn't know of any treatment so I masked really hard at this appointment. After discussion, they told me I had enough early childhood markers of autism for a diagnosis if I wanted one but seemed to be adjusting fine if I didn't. I asked not to be diagnosed and never had any records released, but since then I tell therapists, psychiatrists, and autistic friends I'm autistic and my #selfDiagnosis has never been questioned

“It’s now been over a year since I stopped reading the algorithmic feeds of Twitter and Facebook. The effect of their absence from the halls of my mind has been quite profound: it’s easier to think, and much easier to be optimistic of the world.”

Have my Computed Tomography images and they say they are not for diagnostic purposes but Google Doctor has got me this far so I'm on it!

So what about people who probably have ADHD but are doing ok and don't need the medical stuff? Is it okay to diagnose yourself anyway? Or is that being an imposter?
