I’m looking for a way to keep track of my work and payments.
I run exams for 2 companies. Work is very sporadic, both pay a slightly different amount and are different lengths of time.
I need to know which exams I’ve done by company, who I’ve invoiced and and whether I’ve been paid for each one.
I’ve tried excel etc, but it’s not working for me. I need something idiot proof.
I have a very limited budget.

The biggest challenge, but also the greatest advantage, of being self-employed is determining when to stop. It’s the weekend, and although I’ve already worked late today, I feel tempted to continue working because I’m enjoying it so much. However, I can’t allow myself to do that because I know it will lead to burnout.

Posting this now as a reminder to view this as a positive of having a job I genuinely enjoy, rather than a negative one.

Seeking freelance / contractor / self-employed help (in Scotland).

I'm doing one day's contract work for a non-UK company later in the summer and have no experience of handling self-employed stuff (taxes, invoices, etc). I thought using an Umbrella Company might be the best solution, but am struggling to find one able to do all the duties for only 1 day's work. Does anybody on here have any recommendations or other possible solutions?

Today was nice. I learned that the pressure isn’t on as much as I thought with work, did some clothes shopping and completed another milestone for a client.
I should have a steady flow of work with my biggest client, but sounds like contractual employment isn’t likely in the shorter term which is cool. At least I’m getting plenty of hours per week, can start saving for those big important life things still..
