I'm in the rare place in the work week where I'm not in frantic "responding to calls" mode. (Many Friday calls were pushed to Thursday, so yesterday was the scramble.)

Made a lot of progress this week on the following platforms:

* MV3 browser extensions
* Plain old web development
* iOS
* Android

If you see brains leaking out of my ears, blame all the context switching! Might have to publish a book this weekend to recenter.

One of the smartest things I've heard was from a friend of mine who is a successful professor. We were talking about in our respective careers, staying busy and doing something is no longer the hard part. The hard part if knowing if you're working on the right thing at any given time.

Didn't get as much done on client work as I had mentally bookmarked, but I DID knock out about a month of "deferred" system administration and data entry that's been plaguing me for weeks.

Today was nice. I learned that the pressure isn’t on as much as I thought with work, did some clothes shopping and completed another milestone for a client.
I should have a steady flow of work with my biggest client, but sounds like contractual employment isn’t likely in the shorter term which is cool. At least I’m getting plenty of hours per week, can start saving for those big important life things still..

No wonder my work life feels like being John Wick with an open contract out on him. I had 20 meetings on the schedule for the week. That may be doable for a manager whose job is to attend meetings, but for a software developer, each of those 20 meetings often a deliverable attached to it.

Well, I won a tender last year for a client, which will be paid from a public fund. An absolute dream job. I've done a lot of the work and now the client is trying to change the scope of the tender. If the final production doesn't match the itemised tender the fund won't pay. This is fun, and really helped me sleep last night. #selfEmployment #design

I really shouldn’t have to strategise how I write an email to my tax advisor to maximise chances of them replying and then actually giving me helpful info but here we are.

They’re the bottleneck because I need to give up my business and send proof of that to my insurance provider so Finn can co-insure me for the time I wasn’t working.

As things stand, I’m not entirely sure I am insured right now. And it’s all because someone can’t reply to emails.

@begrudging_recluse It’s not what I want to do forever, but I’m so disenchanted with the #JobMarket and how difficult it is to get interviews—much less job offers—in a big city.

Feeling bad about myself while making a full-time effort to find a salaried job was much less productive, for me, at this point in my life, than going solo and falling back on #SelfEmployment, albeit with less financial security. C’est la vie, I guess? It sucks, though. I’m talented, someone should hire me 🤣

Don’t chasing up money - some of it is for work done nearly two months ago. And now since being mugged esp need it. But when we file stories and hand in work is WHEN our invoices start needing to be processed. We need to be paid on submission, not publication. Some outlets and organisations have started to do this, but some haven’t.
