Checking htop on #footiMac after two weeks of operations with its upgraded resources, and new responsibilities.

It is still far more responsive in all respects. Changes I've noticed:
1) very few web response delays for Mastodon retrieving posts/notifications or uploading pictures/videos.
2) when I logged in remotely before it would take a few seconds. Now it is nearly instant.
3) according to htop the loads are below 0.70 most of the time.
4) RAM usage has gone from 3.2GB (84%) to 6.3GB (40%)

Resources before: 4GB RAM - Dual-core i5 - 1TB HDD
After: 16GB RAM - Dual-core i5 - 1TB SSD.

Small Web (3 static Twitter Archives)
local DNS Server

Services after:
Mastodon
Small Web (3 static Twitter Archives)
local DNS Server
Pixelfed
WeeWx Weather Server

fell a little flat on my face with #alpine. It felt a bit foreign but loved minimalist aspect to it. Banged my head for a couple hours and got to a place to install #lxd and it won't join the cluster. Something.. Something!! errors!!! lxd packages for #alpine feel like a miss match for what i have for snap on ubuntu.. I guess I have to try #debian now. Killed several hours on the #homelab and no further for it 🤨 😀

#Selfhosted applications like #Nextcloud really ought to think up a better way to handle #authentication.

Some sort of human-assisted interactive key exchange, like what #Syncthing and #Bluetooth do, seems better than using Let's Encrypt and a password, which (1) isn't exactly secure and (2) runs on somebody else's computer.

Quelqu'un connait t'il une appli web+app mobile qui permettrait de remplacer strava en #autohebergement ?

Je cherche simplement à avoir mon historique de sortie sportive, ou même vélotaf (cartographie, profil du terrain, allure, les choses classiques),

pas vraiment besoin de l'aspect communautaire de strava (segments, challenge, kudos, etc..).

The #homelab been kicking my ass all day!!! Lost a #proxmox host, bad ram.. maybe! Took out a stick and things came back, lost a #lxd host, couldn't get it back. Need to rebuild my 3rd #lxd host as well as add ram to my #proxmox host. Currently having an internal debate if I really need to add ram, or am i using this as an excuse to spend more money!

I should buy more ram right.. some one tell me to buy more ram!!! 😂

uhh i'm in ubuntu hell!! Had a #proxmox host die yesterday and I got that back up, but now ubuntu doesn't want to boot!!! it drops me into a command prompt that just says grub. I've done all the set and boots and I got as far as it booting into intrafms but won't go any further!! Damn I think this busta is lost!

A couple of words on migration from one #SynologyNAS to another.

I prepared a backup in two different places (just in case) and was ready to wait a whole day to restore it, but #Synology #DSM broke all my expectations. After I moved my drives from an old DS223 to a new DS423+ and started it, it said: "Hey, looks like you are migrating from another NAS. Do you want to restore your system on a new NAS with a single button click?".

So far, DS423+ performance is super satisfactory. Especially #Plex. Sure, after the RAM upgrade from 2 to 6 GB.
