I published an article earlier today about my fraught relationship with my name and how I have ultimately come to embrace it. If this resonates with anyone else, I would be interested to hear about your experience

Self-identification can be viewed as a political choice when others try to fit you in a box for their own agenda. This is a gifted (not behind paywall) Lifestyle article by Samantha Cherry in the Washington Post.

71% of respondents prefer "being autistic" when discussing their own autism, while 6% prefer "having autism" and 19% say it doesn't matter. Language and self-identity are important in the autism community. Respect individuals' preference and use the language they feel most comfortable with.

It's important to recognize that everyone's journey with identification is different. Some may identify strongly with their diagnosis and use it as a source of pride and community, while others may prefer to see it as just one aspect of their identity and prefer non-identification. It's important to respect and support each individual's choice in this process.

Depending on their country, the in which they grew up, their , and in what context.
