I'm curious what your thoughts on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cher%C3% are. I thought it was encouraging to hear that they had "the lowest homicide rate in the entire state of and perhaps even in the entire country of ."

These thoughts about democracy are my own. Although, many of those foundational ideas did not originate from me - because l wasn't born when those seeds began to propagate (e.g., ancient Greeks)

I recently read a toot which had the suggestion that, to paraphrase, "democracy can vote in tyranny".

I disagree, in general, and here is why.

Would an informed electorate ever turn to tyrannical rule?

Obviously not!

The majority of people don't want to be ruled over. Quite the opposite. They, you & l, value our own agency. plato.stanford.edu/ent…/

Democracy doesn't cause tyrannical rule - some other agency does (e.g., fascists that manipulate the electorate to vote them into power). Then, conformity (& fear) sustains the status quo.

Though that's ingroup (e.g., country) specific. For instance, a majority demographic could vote to rule tyrannically over a minority demographic.

Question - Does humanity, in general, rule tyrannically over non-human animals?
