Startled a Pacific Tree Frog while watering a honey locust seedling. I use 3.5 x 5 gallon buckets with holes drilled in the bottoms for most of my seedlings and graftlings because nursery pots are either small or expensive.
I’d like to think this is one of the tadpoles I saved when the pond dried up. But I’ve seen a dozen or so of those little frogs and they’re still brown and half this size. #permaculture. #nature. #selfsuffiency

Apple tree #1. As of now, I have 13 seedlings. More to be planted, including Granny Smith, Ambrosia, and Macintosh. Two people said they would take some in the country, giving a couple to neighbors, and the rest, well, walk around in 7 to 8 years, and if you find a newly fruit bearing apple tree, it could be mine. On our small organic farm in valais switzerland, we have sheep, chicken, dogs, cats, a small wineyard. We have meadows on 1000m and 2200m.
We also produce seedlings for local customers with a focus on healthy and adapt plants from heirloom varieties.
