Burns supper is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet #RobertBurns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796), the author of many Scots poems.
Traditionally, the host begins proceedings by saying #SelkirkGrace, which was written by Burns and believed to have been first read by the Earl of Selkirk: “Some hae meat and canna eat/ And some wad eat that want it;/ But we hae meat, and we can eat,/ Sae let the Lord be thankit.”
