This is old forest land.
There is no forest here any longer.
On the scars that are roads
All things blur at speed.
In the houses that were hollows
On the hills between nature’s majesties
Life is hollow, white plaster echoes
Where greenery was, and Goethe’s
Summits of oak and ash and fir.

This is not even the #semblance
Of a wood, not one hundred acres,
Not one acre, not one square inch,
Between the bungalows of pride
And their paved drives and flooding
Days.

You cut me to my core
when you malign my poetry

It lacks polish obviously
and often strays

of coherent thought
but it's my frickin therapy, OK?

The only true outlet I have
cause booze makes me puke
and meds are just too much expense

Chaotic, restless, and agitated reality
Of a mind sentenced to eternal frailty

Silent screams and persistent headaches
Constant self improvement to partake

Fractured identify, a constant weight
Distancing me... Unable to relate

Up to my eyes in putrid hate
Is a life of suffering my only fate

Pieces of the puzzle are missing
So I'll just keep existing

My mother would say,
Channelling her past
Latching on to a clolloquialism of upbringing,
Attaching to an identity that she once left behind.
"Some semblance..." she gestures to the room,
Her accent thickening to rekindle history,
Her father's voice in her head
"Some semblance..."
She dismisses her failures, denies her mistakes.
Some semblance of herself.
