As home to #ExxonMobil and #ConocoPhillips, it spews more carbon dioxide than any other state in the U.S., and more even than all of Canada. That’s one reason the state’s political leadership is at war with the Obama administration over cap-and-trade plans -- jobs in the oil patch could suffer mightily.

"On the other hand, Texas’ unusual combination of windy prairies, available transmission lines and a wide-open attitude toward energy investment helped the western part of the state become the wind-power capital of the country in less than a decade, further helping reduce emissions." (!!!)
