@briankrebs I have #gmail filters and scripts configured to scan headers and automatically forward to #sendgrid abuse at this point. The most common #spam #phishing style is the one that's usually one large low quality image with lots of image based text and some fake snail mail address at the bottom. It's been unstoppable for years, and always from sendgrid

Currently watching a discussion amongst people who seem to really believe that sending a little #spam in direct violation of RFCs is just fine because their business model collapses if they follow basic interop rules.

The self-control is very difficult.

Oh, and BTW: if you use #Twilio #SendGrid you should expect delivery issues. They SHOULD have delivery issues. They SHOULD go bankrupt and liberate their wasted technical talent.

It's interesting how #Namecheap's response to someone pointing out that they are completely missing the point about sharing with a third party not absolving them of responsibility again completely misses the point. It doesn't matter at all if it's common practice to share information with third parties for purposes of sending email, YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING PEOPLE'S INFORMATION SAFE. It appears Namecheap may not understand what the word "responsible" means.

And at any rate, #Twilio claims their own systems haven't been "hacked or compromised". Since companies deliberately misunderstand the meaning of the word "compromise" as well, I'll reserve judgement on that; if they use an access mechanism that's hard to use securely, that's on them. But it does sound like Namecheap's #SendGrid credentials were probably compromised.

But this event is going to accelerate that drastically.

@FinnleyDolfin at first I wanted to use #Twilio #SendGrid [ https://sendgrid.com/ ] but their #SignUp and approval was way too inconvenient and slow so that it was easier to just use a shitty freemailer instead of bothering with their stuff.

After all I'm not operating an instance with absurdly high numbers of users but at most have like 1-2 signups and maybe a password reset email and 3-4 email-replies per day...

@olliejones I have looked at #MailPoet, and that one comes closest to fitting the bill; outside of the subscribers … trying to get as close to Free as possible on a price since one newsletter is for a non-profit and the other is just a personal one that is a non-paying hobby. Also, I had used #sendgrid in the past, but a while back, I switched to #Postmark

@shelby I've had decent luck with #MailPoet. It's a freemium #WordPress plugin, and comes with #WooCommerce. You can use their email service provider, or try using #sendgrid.

So... Fun with #Tumblr for me is that I have a blog I want to share.

Before I can share, I need to be able to log in again as (e.g. not actual) me@an-old-domain.nope again, and to do that I'll need to do a #digitalocean droplet with the right DNS records and probably postfix to receive an email from Tumblr.

This is what I call fun. The easiest part is the DNS records.

I also created a #SendGrid account, but I need to receive, so maybe no utility there.
