Now that I have the capacity to do #sensitiveContent covers on any photo (as opposed to just a CW on the whole post) what are people's opinions/needs re these covers?

Is a default cover all images useful or annoying? Better to just use for the usual sensitivity issues (nsfw, eye contact, gore, food, etc...).

Logistics wise there is an option to just mark images #sensitiveContent rather than #cw the whole post, but my app doesn't do that so I can't comment further.

There is fun to be had as well, a lot of people use those features in playful ways.

I think just watching what other people are doing will help you get a sense of it. And dropping in with questions is generally very welcome, so ask away! Dumb questions to strangers is one of the ways we connect here. 🤪

To folks who seem to mark *all* of their photos as "sensitive content," consider this.

Because so much of the sensitive content really isn't (photos of cute animals do not require a CW or to be flagged as sensitive), I just indiscriminately click on all "sensitive content" images.

So, every now and again I'll come across one that really *is* sensitive content and I instantly regret clicking.

Maybe let's not mark everything as sensitive?

I think #mastodon needs to review its filtering system for #sensitivecontent - it's astonishing how many photos of adorable #cats end up with that cover over them. Surely nobody will be traumatised by pictures of #adorable #kittehs

I just responded to someone’s post with a short clip of Ike 🐕 waiting for me to throw his toy. Mastodon/Vivaldi automatically marked it as #sensitivecontent. 🙄
