Was just working and apparently roadworks nearby spewed toxic burning tar into the air and triggered my #asthma and #SensorySensitivity together. Sure do love to be working in a "low cost of living" area so I can be paid less for the same work in literal bioharzards.

My oldest was getting exceedingly frustrated when his Windows school laptop kept beeping at him as he typed (indicating what it perceived as errors).

To the point where each beep was causing a sensory overload.

He must get that from me. I HATE the incessant beeping of computers.

So! I showed him how to change the sound scheme to "No Sounds". Better than just muting, as he can still listen to music, videos, etc., but without the damned computer mosquitoing in his ear.

I offered a high five when we did and received a full double armed hug! Hahaha! Ahhh, relief! Hahaha!

Yeah... computers are our tools. We are not beholden to them.

One of my usually least useful superpowers is my extremely sensitive sense of smell. It does no good for me to be able to know that someone is running their car while parked four floors down, outside, on the street, or that someone I know switched moisturizer. It's too much data I can't do anything about and everything is overpoweringly scented unless it's fragrance free.

Just now I put on new hand sanitizer, clearly marked scent free etc. and go "wait, why does this smell like this" and lo and behold, it has aloe vera as one of the ingredients. No aloe vera for cats, it's a no for this hand sanitizer, then!

so I ended up purchasing a pair of Sony headphones on black friday because they had a really good deal and the noise cancelling sounded very interesting / more fitting to my needs. if everything goes as planned they’ll arrive today and I can’t wait trying them out. hope they’ll help with #SensorySensitivity / #SensoryOverload

Sporting events should broadcast all commentary in a quiet tone to the stadium and have quiet days when they don't blast music and lights at the crowd. I could wear noise canceling headphones and listen peacefully
I can't go to hockey games because it's just massive sensory overload, but if they turned off the lightbar, and quit with the damned music between each play it'd be great.
