Caution should be exercised when reading into these very very preliminary numbers from Day 1 of pre-season #MotoGP testing. The #Ducati powered teams are doing well occupying the top 3 spots. Jorge Martin also did a fair number of laps as did Joan Mir and Franco Morbidelli. #Aprilia also showing early promise with Maverick Vinales 4th after 39 laps.

In case you missed it (and if you did, more fool you...), Peter Bom talks to me about the Sepang test. Peter gives his insight into why #Sepang is so interesting and so challenging for #MotoGP testing. And he gives his view on what each factory will be testing at Sepang

Notes from the final day of the #MotoGP shakedown test at #Sepang. Not much to say, beyond the fact it was dry. KTM rolled out more aero updates, but I suspect this is not the final version.
Cal Crutchlow told Peter McLaren not to read too much into the Yamaha's top speed. Which of course means that we should take it very seriously indeed.

Excellent report on the final day of the #Sepang #MotoGP shakedown test from Peter McLaren. Lots of juicy stuff in there. #Yamaha is fast and seem to be investing in aero. KTM have not debuted their F1-inspired aero yet. That will turn up at the main test.
Conditions were better today, and Pirro sneaked under the 2' mark.

I wrote a few notes on what we have seen so far from the #Sepang #MotoGP Shakedown test. It's pretty clear that the factories are all in on aerodynamics. And I would venture that we have only seen a relatively small part of what they have brought to test.

Results from Day 2 at the #MotoGP #Sepang shakedown test. Was mostly wet all day. And some of the aero weirdness is starting to show up.

Times from the first day of the #Sepang #MotoGP shakedown test. Was pretty damp all day, and these are test riders plus Augusto Fernandez, so times are a couple of seconds off.
Not many obvious changes from a quick glance at the photos. New swingarm for Yamaha, top speed of the Yamaha looks good. New aero on the Aprilia. Jonas Folger got his first full go on the KTM. I expect to see more updates tomorrow.

#MotoGP bikes on track tomorrow. Shakedown test at #Sepang starts, with test riders plus 2023 MotoGP Rookie of the Year Augusto Fernandez. (The reduction in official testing means that rookies get a few extra days.
Times won't mean anything. But expect to see a lot of aero updates. That door has been opened, and will not be closed again.
This account is about to get very motorcycle racing centric. Apologies if you are not interested in motorcycle racing
2016 #MotoGP aero was *wild*
