Authors probably do that a lot, although it certainly doesn't always work. It's working here, though. There's a few kinks, most of which I attribute to King's age. He's a #septuagenarian writing from the perspective of an almost-present-day (2012-2013) teenager. He's gonna get some stuff wrong there. Overall, though, I'm loving the story.
