Before poker, faro was the game to play, and it was an important element of Alexander Pushkin's 1833 short story, "The Queen of Spades".

The story was to be made into a film, and Sergei Prokofiev composed a score.

This is a mad 6-min piece of repetitive music, and it's brilliant.

I once saw an interview with and he was talking about , but he pronounced as Proko-feeve instead of the typical English pronunciation, Proko-fee-ev. I have debated this strongly, and not having been raised on most thoroughly, I have opted to adopt Hadelich's pronunciation as accurate despite how various interwebs say otherwise. @classicalmusic
