With ostree, you can easily rebase to another image, try it out, and switch back or to another image whenever you want!

An utterly unremarkable update to #Fedora 38 on my "don't mess anything up" box.

Still no update on my #ublue laptop due to a build issue involving #mesa drivers. Apparently. It's not exactly hurting me, but it would be nice to get the release of #Sericea going.

Anyway, I'm in this weird place with #fedora (specifically #sericea). #Sway is now where #gnome was for me before I figured out sway: it works well and it's comfortable, and now I'm bashing my head on the desk trying to get #river where I want it or, failing that, to do the necessary incantations to get #hyprland running.

Day one blindred and twilky nive of not being able to easily install #hyprland on #fedora. Or, at least, on #silverblue. Or, at least, a #beta of #sericea.

Ok, maybe I get it.

Is it as simple as sudo dnf install? I guess not? But it's awfully close, does more work to keep the system stable, and gives me all the benefits of the immutable OS base.

Put another way, running a pre-alpha workflow (ublue) on a beta OS (#Fedora #Sericea 38), I have a computer that feels as bulletproof and recoverable as macos while being customized to my needs.

I am amazed that I have been able to make no progress WHATSOEVER in figuring out how to configure #sddm in #sericea. There's no documentation that I can find for it or #kinoite regarding where #sddm is configured.

So, for example, I cannot set #sddm for #hidpi.

Sidebar: the #linux folder structure ... oof, right?

I cannot for the life of me find where #sericea keeps its sddm config. #fedora

I just want to enable hidpi.

Or ditch sddm for something else.

My workspace buttons are the tiniest bit off center. Notifications look like crap. I hate whatever #sericea is using as a display manager. I need to fix background selection. Light/dark transitions by time of day. Handling external monitors.

There's a list of stuff, but I can live and work in this environment. No more chasing windows in 3 dimensions.

Swaylock fails to unlock about 4-7 times, without producing any sort of error. It's not an authentication failure. It just silently doesn't unlock ... until it does. /etc/pam.d has a swaylock entry with the apparently correct contents.

This is perplexing. I don't know where the error is occurring so I'm having trouble, uh, troubleshooting.
