Super thrilled to say that because I got a bit of the money back that I got ripped off of last October for Lucy’s training, it has provided me with the opportunity to purchase a few online courses through Donna Hill’s Service Dog Training Institute. The FB and IG service dog communities tend to be super judgmental, which is why I’m just talking about this stuff here… but I’m just so angry at myself that I have a great service dog in training, and my training ability seems to be shit. I don’t even know what I’ll do if I can’t train her. My current SD is nearly 7, and I need Lucy to succeed because I can’t monetarily or psychologically afford for her to not work out. My mood is still lower than usual, but I got a lot more done around my apartment today than I have in a long time. And I’m going to try to take Lucy on a little training outing during the day, which I haven’t done in a while, so fingers crossed that it goes okay. I just hate dealing with people… I’m going to be looking for something for her birthday, preferably something that will also help keep her occupied during her crate rest after her spay. #Depression #ServiceDog

As much as training my own #ServiceDog gave me wonderful experiences, I cannot get over the idea that I want a program dog in the future. I don't want to do it all over again, it's so stressful. I also feel like it would be just a much different experience having to build a bond with a fully grown and trained dog as opposed to working with my dog from 9 weeks old. I don't know, hopefully it's not an issue for many years.

It's wild to me still that Gravy managed to connect the dots so well so quickly. I knew he would likely learn faster than a puppy because he's already an adult, intelligent, and knows many cues. I had no idea it would be such a fast turnaround before he used a button on his own though!

Something interesting has happened since I've started taking Adderall.

One of our dogs, whom we thought was alerting specifically and pretty exclusively to my chronic pain flares/increases, suddenly stopped coming to bed at the same time as me.

Tonight, she started crying at me in the evening and this was a new behavior for her. Moments later, I realized the Adderall was wearing off.

I think this dog has been alerting to changes in dopamine all this time.

I had a super long #rheumatology visit today for my #PsoriaticArthrits. Gravy did well, though he was doing a lot of crowd control which he was not trained for. He alerted several times that I was anxious, and performed #DPT. He sat politely between my knees while I got my blood drawn. Approximately two hours, a ton of strangers, and a lot of new fun smells. I'm a proud #ServiceDog user and owner trainer today. :)
