Honestly struggling with #Chrome's Manifest V3 limitations regarding its background script. Can't get any long-lived processes working, and managing hydration of states during suspension and wake up is troublesome as #serviceworkers don't fire events for this.

I'm honestly afraid that I'll just have to fall back and get the browser extension to rely on the desktop app.. And this really defeats all the strides @buttercup has made with its browser extension being its own application. Don't want to do it but I'm seeing no other *reliable* way.

Anyone else out there building #browserextensions hitting this road block? Would really appreciate any words of encouragement or suggestions as to what to do here..

Already sick of #chrome’s manifest V3 for extensions. The requirement to have service workers instead of background daemons means I can’t keep my password manager’s data in memory.

What am I supposed to do, decrypt the user’s vault every time the service worker wakes?

Anyone have any better ideas? I’d prefer to not have to rely on the desktop app for the “live” vault data, as having a stand alone extension is valuable as a feature in itself.

We need to get to a place where call-offs are budgeted for in business. But then people cry about “overspending” or “over budget”…yet they cry when these strains of call-offs affect customers getting served “in a timely manner”. I think many #ServiceWorkers and #RetailEmployees will agree. 2/2

I dislike the #PWA UI pattern of presenting the user with a "the app has updated, click here to reload" link. We do this because we know the page needs to be reloaded, but aren't brave enough to simply reload the page. The side effect is that we have outdated clients running long after we've pushed changes to the server they must talk to. Just reload! Or do it between user interactions! #serviceworkers #webdevelopment

I get it. Travel is bloody stressful at the best of times. Please, before abusing service workers, take some time to cool down and save the venom for corporations. This really does demonstrate support for all workers.

Offline support is often left out. Whenever people mention something is #PWA, I can't conclude it's 100% reliable all the time, since it most likely doesn't provide #ServiceWorkers, let alone content caching.

So, we're in state when mentioning one PWA having offline support is equally important, as it's a world of difference for travellers. 😎

That's nice - paddings could use some work for mobile, but overall feels great.

I kinda wanted #PWA (#ServiceWorkers) that would work as fine offline, with cache of such data: profile, timelines of everyone and everything I follow (people and hashtags), account settings, avatars and other small media files. Haha, come to think of it, sounds like a huge a** wishlist from me there. Just throwing some ideas while I have them, y'know :rickhey:
