This the first MP2015 I bought. I'm now the proud owner of another one because this mixer rocks and I eventually sold this one 🤦🏻‍♂️. I was trying to get back to vinyl a little bit and so I got those cheap PLXs to give it a try.

Damn I forgot again! But this one is a goodun so I’ll post a day late. While having a late night eBay session I noticed someone had listed a setup which they evidently didn’t know the true value of. I pounced on the opportunity for a nexus set up for pretty cheap. The horrific metallic skins were all my doing though….

I'm lumping the next three shots together because they really are part of the same era. Still rocking :traktor: but now with a KontrolF1, an X1 Mk2, a Kontrol Z1 (😱) and eventually even a Kontrol Z2 for a while...

Being a relatively new ‘digital’ DJ, the internet convinced me that software was cheating. My ego took a blow, and determined to prove myself I bagged some XDJ-1000s and a DJM-750 Mk1 (which had the absolute worst filter set up).

And then the setups went big again… Three CDJs? Why not! I’m not sure where the laptop was in this version…

Now - this is where my memory starts to get a bit wonky. The #GearPorn addiction was starting to unfold and I went through a process of wanting EVERYTHING. Enter the #DDJ-RZ (I think that was the model….). And absolute beast of a controller, only downside was the layout was quite unique. I also bought some turntables to add to the mix. I possess a very unpopular opinion with this by stating that capacitive jog wheel are far superior to mechanical….

Then I went minimal for a hot minute. That's when I started really getting into Traktor.

FINALLY I REMEMBERED!

Following on from the Vestax spin, I started to take software seriously. At this time DJ EZ was heavily involved in Traktor, so I thought I’d give it blast. The only problem with Traktor was it was incredibly scary to a noob. Didn’t have a clue what half of the settings were. Regardless, the S4 mk2 was an absolute joy to mix with!

Just realised I missed #SetupSunday yet again. It’s a goddun too.

New years goals:

1. Organise and label my vinyl
2. Play more of neatly organised vinyl

And I've only just realised that I missed #SetupSunday beacuse I was hammered.

Eventually I went back to CDJS and actually gigged out in Laguna Beach for quite a while using this setup.

After realising that digital DJing was actually the future and leaving my vinyl snobbery behind, I decided to invest in the #Vestax Spin 2. Lovely bit bit of kit!

@brothersoul I'm going thru all my past setups for #SetupSunday and I've had quite a few 😂

I don't use Ableton for DJing anymore, my main setup now is :traktor: based with Kontrol D2s and turntables.

Then I got into Ableton and the Lemur controller after watching some Deadmau5 feature somewhere... That controller was way ahead of its time. I played a few gigs out with that setup too... just laptop, soundcard and Lemur.

After being convinced by a poisonous witch of an ex that I needed to ‘grow up’ and give up the DJ life, I binned the turntables and mixer (the vinyl was squirrelled away in storage). A few years later I was intrigued by ‘digital’ and this was my first step….
