@sewing Ok, first things first: here’s the pocket bunny. It slept there for an hour or so while I finished the leggings, then I deposited it in some blackberries when I went out for groceries.
Now, first set of tips!
You can’t iron, for better or worse! Use clips, not pins. I make tiny snips for notches, and I use a Frixion pen for markings.
All knitwear patterns tell you to use a stretch stitch. But which one? And all the blog posts I could scrounge up when I started sewing said to use the setting that looks like a lightning bolt - but I don’t think any of my stitch pictures look like lightning bolts? So here’s the stretch stitch setting I use the most. It looks kinda like a row of VVV, so in my head I call it the Roman stitch. Zero width for seams.
My next tip is to ignore the pattern length of the pocket bindings. Cut them at least an inch longer on each side - that’ll give you a little starting point and a handle. Once you get the corner sewn down, you can ever so gently stretch the binding, so it ends up pulling the pocket opening closed. When it’s topstitched, just trim the binding to the width of the pocket! #sewing #SewingKnits #SewingTips
