I'm wanting to start making my own clothes. Does any one have any recommendations for finding alternative clothing sewing patterns? I don't really know styles and names of clothes it's going to be be browsing and. Oh I like this. #sewing #sewingpatterns #recommendations #help #clothesmaking #alternativefashion

There are tasks that I know how to do, tasks I've trained for, that I feel happy to do and perform easily. Vectorizing line drawings for #sewingPatterns in #Inkscape is one such thing, I've made a tutorial for that, after all!
But then blending kids patterns sizes! I've done that, I've perfected the technique, my tutorial has been stuck in editing limbo since autumn but a lot of me has been, to be honest, since October the 10th.
..I can't bring myself to do this for like 6h now :(

I also drafted a jumper for Bobbie and used this striped jersey left over from sewing a turtleneck for myself. This is just a test so I can make her a proper jumper for winter. I wish my dog can tell me what she thinks because I’m not that happy with how it turned out. I might give up and just buy a staffy-shaped jumper pattern somewhere. Please send recommendations or drafting suggestions.

Finally can show off my latest pattern test as a whole. This is the simplest collar and it still has 12 parts… other variants go through quilting to paper piecing which I won't touch with a measuring tape, but there are some for the likes of me too.

Ocean inspired ice dye dress! Sewn by me out of white Pima cotton, then tied & dyed. A whole bunch of blues in a gradient for the waves (seaglass, a tiny bit of bright green, cayman isle green, mermaids dream, turquoise, cerulean, grecian sea) and a couple browns for the sand (bronze & Lion's mane). Dye over ice for the flowing together look

I wish I had the spoons to tackle jeans fitting. This pattern looks like it might fit me with relatively few adjustments.. AND the pattern size chart comes with information about thigh circumference, something that other designers (eg cashmerette in their new dress pants) completely ignore.

btw, for people interested in #sewing who don't want to pay for patterns or are struggling to find patterns in sizes larger than a fucking medium, if you have access to a printer I strongly recommend Mood Fabrics: https://www.moodfabrics.com/blog/category/free-sewing-patterns/
They have a ton of free sewing patterns and most that I've seen go up to a size 30 or so! They also do sell fabrics but I haven't tried any of them out yet!

"Enkla kläder som man kan sy själv" ie 'Simple clothes you can sew on your own' have pattern diagrams for a host of timeless pieces, including the Carin Larson apron and d:o artist blouse (which is why I looked for it). Looking through it now I can see the book itself is hard to follow - which is probably why my mom gave it to me as a colouring book when I was 3 or 4yrs.
