Evening in the Excelsior

expedition to Midtown Terrace today with the Sunset Sketchers.

A quick sketch of a fire engine in profile. Notes on colors ("red," "white," "yellow," etc.) as the truck was from another firehouse, loading equipment, and I knew I'd have to paint the ink sketch after it left.

45th and Rivera, and a glimmer of sunlight.

House is green these days and of course there are curb cuts now. This is a reconstruction of how it looked back in the day. Commission for someone to give a friend who'd grown up there.
Included: the non-op Volvo 122 they pushed around the corner twice a week on street-sweeping days.
