Bike Party today! If you've never done a group ride, this monthly one is a good place to start. It's fun, chill, suitable for all kinds of bikes and bicyclists, and usually pretty flat. Not overtly political like a lot of the rides we promote, but building community is super important too.

Is Treasure Island being built with protected bike lanes throughout? Van Ness style BRT? A grocery store, library, schools, and health care people can walk to? And no fossil power? If not we're building for the past.

I was a member of the San francisco bicycle coalition #sfbike #sfbc for nearly 20 years, volunteering and donating. The leadership too often put personal politics ahead of the best interests of cyclists. I didn’t think I’d see a day when the taxi association and the bicycle coalition found common cause but apparently vehicles with a safer driving record unite them https://sfbike.org/news/the-sf-bicycle-coalitions-stance-on-robotaxi-expansion
Why does SF charge sales tax on Bay Wheels? 🧐 You should charge tax on things you want less of, and subsidize things you want more of.

I’ve decided that door zone bike lanes often feel less safe than no paint at all. They encourage drivers to feel entitled to the whole car lane, and if I ride in the edge of the bike lane outside the door zone, drivers are prone to rage and honk or pass closely. #SFBike #StreetsForPeople #urbanism

Anyone in the #SFBA / #SFBike community know a good accident lawyer or has dealt with chasing down a driver for fault?
A good friend of mine got doored badly last weekend and had to have major surgery (they’re now doing ok and recovering nicely)
They’re hoping to get advise on how to proceed with getting compensation of some kind (at least enough to offset hospital bills), and hopefully some professional help dealing with things.
Loved the block party with We Are OMI after a cleanup at the St. Charles St bike lane. #SFBike
Join We Are OMI us for a community ride with SF MTA to highlight ways to improve biking conditions in the OMI (Oceanview, Merced, Ingleside) Aug 5!
Meet at Blue House Cafe at 11:30am, or afterwards for a community workshop.

with the news about Lyft wanting to pawn off bikeshare, can we get the city to buy it up now and save on startup costs? @deanpreston, if you're serious about this, it's hard to imagine it'll get any cheaper
Nice to see merchants speak in favor of car-free spaces for a change, but if they complain when they go on and complain when they go out, maybe they don't actually know anything and shouldn't get to decide?

another reminder that I should never read any online neighborhood group's opinions on bicycles or non-car access without some reasonably soft object nearby to repeatedly punch until the rage subsides
