The series is an "insider's look" at Chinatown.

It brought back a lot of fond memories of SF Chinatown for me and should be of interest to those who think they "know" Chinatown but really haven't spent much time there.

My grandmother use to host Chinese opera "stars" in our ancestral home in SF Chinatown in the early 1900's and my mother use to take me to Chinese opera performances in Chinatown when I was young.

Never understood what was going on & hated the banging and hi pitched "singing" which are still not pleasing to my ear but I'm glad someone else apparently understands and appreciates it's historical and cultural significance.

I was born/raised in SF but I've never eaten at at "The House of Nanking" bc I prefered other places and bc, after I heard of it, there were always long lines of tourists waiting to get in.

Why wait in line for Chinese food in Chinatown?

I think Kathy Fang wears too much eyeliner (a throwback to the bouffant hairdos also popular in C-town the 60's) but I'll watch the show which I hope is successful for her.

A little bit of Chinatown history and a carry over from when defacto descrimination was the rule for life as a Chinese in San Francisco.

Back in in the 1950's, I was in the Cub Scouts in a troop at Spring Valley School (which was at the time defacto 99.9% Chinese) and if I had wanted to continue as Boy Scout, I would have been a member of Troop 3 too.

I hope they're able to continue as a Boy Scout troop for many years to come.

Haven't been there yet but it's a pretty good tour of the Chinatown station.

Did the guy really say "lop sop" (ie., "garbage" in Cantonese) when the lady gave him a "limited edition" brochure?

Good thing most people who will watch this won't know what he said, unless they read this.
