Gay jury duty

Marching in the San Francisco Pride parade with a corporate contingent is boring and inconvenient.

Even though I’ve lived in San Francisco for over 20 years, this year was only the second time I’ve been to the official Pride parade and the first time I marched in it. I’ve generally thought it was, roughly in order of disagreeableness, too hot, too crowded, too loud, too corporate, and too uptight. And most importantly, I thought it was pointless. This year felt different.

Beautiful sunset along the Bay tonight, closing out another #SFPride weekend, my 22nd since moving out here. 30th anniversary of one of my first marches, the 1993 March on Washington. Feeling a mix of nostalgia, sadness, and rage, while also relishing how far we come. It’s breathtaking to see how the Friday trans celebration has grown, while maintaining a community feel. But things feel so dire for trans folks right now. Always helpful to #GetOutside for some #TransJoy.

Certainly every time I went it was hot as fuck, and the years I didn’t go, count the heat as one of the reasons. Shit, I remember back in 2004, a good deal of the heat was emanating from Gavin Newsom himself, he was our fucking hero that year, legalizing SSM while wearing a tiiiiiiiiight tighty tight lil short sleeved shirt, skin glistening in the sun, and you just know he smelled good…. SF Pride's list of ban items includes water and food, sounds like an attack on people who can't afford the over priced concession stands.
How wise is banning whistles when historically they've been used by the LGBT+ community as a form of self defense?
My other question is how do they have the Faerie Village if marijuana is banned?
This confirms I'm staying away from SF Corporate Pride and sticking with Juanita More's People's March and Rally.

I saw a truck parked outside SF Pride: Gays Against Groomers. It sounded suspicious so I looked it up and of course it’s an anti trans org. They should be ashamed. This stuff makes us all feel unsafe.
