#Sharex is a really handy tool sometimes! Does so much for me. Yet muscle memory forces me to use the snipping tool more.

Still its pretty crazy all the features it has.

Had a sudden burst of motivation to add DXGI Desktop Duplication capture to #ShareX. Want this since the existing method causes stutter when recording.

Most of the hard work was done by ffmpeg's ddagrab filter source. That said, I had to handle the case of having the screen capture across multiple monitors. This meant I had to learn how ffmpeg's filter graphs worked.

(I still have no idea why there's a distinction between filter graphs and filter chains)

Also I've just discovered #PlainApp, which is similar to #ShareX in that it uses your LAN or WiFi to share files from your phone (via the app) to your computer (via a web browser), but it can do a lot more as well like make #Markdown notes, and send & receive SMS messages and phone calls.

If PlainApp could run via my phone's mobile hotspot -- like ShareX can -- that would be a real benefit as it would remove the need to be connected to the internet.

It would be quite nice if #ShareX did actually remember my device when I select "Remember my device" when connecting to it. Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't think what.

It would also be nice if it let me see those remembered devices when I tap on thay button, rather than erase them.

In trying to publish more articles for the fediverse - I'd like to start including screen shots (I'm visually based).

I installed Chevereto server and love it. ShareX natively lets me upload directly to Chevereto instance.

However, I do most of my writing on my macbook. Are there any alternatives on mac that have this functionality? Would love to hear recommendations.

@Moaske Hopefully they have not made it impossible to use #ShareX on Windows 11...

Installed #ShareX to easily take screenshots for #NewWorld (and pretty much everything else) as per a suggestion from @Belghast.

Works like a charm! Upon pressing the desired shortcut (which are many, depending how much you wanna capture - full screen, dual screen, window, current app, etc) it saves photos in a folder with the date.

Also found that adding a few characters in settings will make it create a sub-folder named after the app the screen is from! Cool!
