Very basic, lazy, boring architecture without any remarkable feature (can we at least see that "central plaza"?). This on top of other concerns voiced regarding excessive height, lack of parking, lack of social housing and so on. #Glasgow #Southside

Hello hi this is important. I may be the last person to find out (in which case, fuck you very much) but Shawlands Continental Foodstore (12 Moss-Side Rd, Shawlands, Glasgow G41 3TL) have several shelves dedicated to snacky treats from mighty New Zealand. And that other place, too. They even have cans of L&P. Pineapple Lumps. Watties tomato sauce. I only bought the essentials though eh.

The pillared and domed entrance to the A-Listed former Waverley Cinema in the Shawlands area of Glasgow.
Designed by Watson, Salmond and Gray, this was one of the city's first purpose-built cinemas. It opened in 1922 and could seat 1,320 people. It closed in 1973, and then followed the typical life-cycle of old Glasgow cinemas by becoming a bingo hall, then a snooker club, then lying empty for a prolonged period of time.

Former Glasgow Savings Bank branch at Shawlands Cross in Glasgow. This beautiful building was designed by Neil Duff and was constructed in 1906.

One of the octagonal towers on Shawlands Cross Church. Designed by Miller and Black in the wonderfully named Perpendicular Gothic style, it was built in 1903. I particularly like the crown of gargoyles.

Built in 1862, it was probably designed by John Burnet Senior as a Franco-Scots Renaissance style villa for Alexander Bannatyne Stewart who owned a wholesale clothing warehouse business.

South Shawlands Church in Glasgow.
Designed by Miller and Black and built in 1912, this church has an imposing Gothic style entrance with an extra wide door and a matching traceried window above it. Overall, it's a very simple, but very effective design.
