the artists involved all have a tune on a compilation that's being released by the WIAIWYA label later in the year, so we're all lookking for gigs so we can promote the release

Here's me on the train back from #Sheffield today, just passing the fabulous cooling towers of Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station next to East Midlands Parkway station. One of only two remaining coal-fired power stations left in the UK, it is apparently being decommissioned in 12 months' time.

Brief trip to #Sheffield yesterday had us lunching in The Grapes, Trippet Lane, a lovely old-style Irish pub. Well-poured Guinness. Cash only. The lunch they offer is doorstep-sized sandwiches and chunky chips. 😋

The plight of The Leadmill in #Sheffield conflicts me, on one side a big business is seeking to displace an established small business with a long community heritage.

On the other hand the current operator has been doing their best to cynically develop faux outrage throughout the whole ugly process and are even paying protestors.

I want to support the small business but they are doing themselves no favours.

Saleema Imam of Burngreave #sheffield died recently..

You very likely will not know her.. but if you have been involved in any Sheffield community politics in the last 30 years or more the name may be familiar.

I met her in relation to permaculture and allotments in the late 1990's. She was important in with Burngreave Community Action Forum and Trust.. where I believe she was on the board and helped bring the NDFC to the area in the early 2000's...(cont)

A new #parkrun for me and Mrs C today at Rother Valley in #Sheffield - it's a 5km loop around the lakes at the country park. We decided to treat ourselves to coffee and bacon sandwiches at the visitor centre cafe afterwards - nice way to start a weekend :)
