Few pics from this year’s edition of Sophie’s Death March, aka, Day 1 of the Trifecta. Hoping my body holds up for days 2 & 3. Hollows were hot, still, and humid. Ridgeline was warm, dry, and breezy.

Don’t have much hope for tomorrow’s weather. First three miles are notoriously wet.

If you #run in the #ShenandoahNationalPark, , and support #LGBTQ+ rights, please consider patronizing Before & After Cafe in Sperryville, VA.

The owner recently received an unsigned letter from a disappointed customer. The customer took issue with him wearing a shirt that said "Protect Trans Kids," claiming it was offensive to the families and children at the cafe.

The cafe's owner posted a copy of the letter to FB, so it isn't any kind of secret he supports the rights of trans humans.

Also, they make pretty good sandwiches.

Had an easy morning planned so hit Little Devil Stairs in the #SNP. It wasn’t the most beautiful or striking day for it, but the weather was nice. Surprisingly, had the place to myself. Took Keyser Run FR back down. Love this loop, but the old family plot, from before the park, is always bittersweet.

An inch of snow fell last night. Skyline was already closed in anticipation. Took a border access trail up and decided to hop on the Drive. It was a gorgeous day to be up there—sunny, slight wind, right around freezing. Followed a fox’s tracks for a mile and half, meandering along the road.

A not so fun 15 miles yesterday in the #ShenandoahNationalPark. First ten were good, including going up Corbin Mt, which has always been a slog in the past, but Indian Run still sucks.

Had one of those “this is so stupid and so fun” mornings. Hit Buck Hollow and Buck Ridge in the #ShenandoahNationalPark on a cold, blustery morning. Light dusting of snow on the mountains. Def ran at a “scenic” pace today. Smiling the whole f’ing way.

2022 fishing summary: final
Took a trip to Shenandoah National Park in search of brook trout. We hiked quite a few miles that day up beautiful mountain streams, but was not able to catch a brookie. Caught a few of these fall fish (maybe?), which definitely have a taste for beadheads. I need another trip to complete the Shenandoah brookie quest. #fishing #flyfishing #shenandoahNationalPark
