The scene where Gillette’s motorcycle crashed into the pothole had Keaton working as Gillette’s stunt double. So, Keaton did not only his own stunts, but those of his co-stars as well … “Hi, I’m Buster Keaton, welcome to Jackass …”

It’s interesting to me how Buster Keaton was able to make an almost direct Sherlock Holmes parody in 1924 without any legal scruples whatsoever, yet “Sherlock and Watson” couldn’t be made until 2018 at the earliest because of copyrights pertaining to a man who has been dead for over nine decades and thus is no longer concerned with money. Guess that’s what happens though, when Kafka is put in charge of copyright law …
