Puppy report: Billy is now 12 weeks old and has been with us for four weeks. Some days it’s seems like no time at all and other days are very long and it’s a constant battle, which I will do everything in my power to win 🐕😭

A new feeding game, slow feeding toy just arrived and Billy is napping.
I have a few lick pads which he loves when I squish his meal into them. His other IQ/slow feeder I usually fill with kibble, I’ve never seen him eat kibble so fast 😂

Billy sat on the back seat of the car by himself without too much whinging yesterday on his first trip to Bunnings. He had a harness and safety belt on. #ShibaBilly #shibainu #dogsofmastodon

Billy is now 11 weeks old and to celebrate I washed his bedding and toys and gave him a bath this morning. He looks lovely and fluffy and was a very good boy through the whole process. He wasn’t that happy about it but no squeals and no treats required to get the job done. Now he smells lovely. 🐕💙 #shibainu #shibabilly ##dogsofmastodon #dogbath

Puppy report. Billy actually went into his sandpit yesterday, no photo proof yet.
Then after all that stress yesterday of his new sandpit last night I saw a version of Billy that could only be described as being like the Tasmanian Devil cartoon.

He was so hyper and had worked out that if he ran really really fast in a circle on the lounge room mat he could hurl himself up onto the lounge. When I say hurl I really mean HURL.
Normally he can’t get onto the lounge.
He was just over the top, mental.

By this stage I had enough and it was only 6.30pm. I put him in his crate, he whinged twice and fell asleep, through to 5am

Something has to change or we won’t survive this behaviour. So I started to calculate how much of the required 18-20hours of sleep he was actually getting each day, not as much as he should be.
Today we started enforced naps. 🙌🏻 OMG Why wasn’t I told about this before. He is basically a baby and just like babies he needs to sleep. He is so much calmer this afternoon after his 90min nap. We will continue with this routine tomorrow. 🐕 #ShibaBilly #dogsofmastodon

Today we wondered if we had broken Billy 🤦‍♀️
Here is a photo of billy standing in his sand pit, and for now the only photo we have like this, because he hates it and I made this photo.

In the hope of stopping him digging holes in the grass we we put it all together for him today. His reaction was to bolt down the passage into his crate. Then he spent the next few hours asleep on me. This afternoon he progressed to barking at it.

I suppose we can use it for places we don’t want him to go 🐕

When Billy was a tiny puppy we saw photos of him with his siblings all bundled up together in a fluffy bed.

We bought a lovely pink fluffy one just like that blue one for Billy.

It’s such a hard life for a little puppy dog.
Billy will be 10weeks old on Wednesday and has changed a lot already. He has learnt to follow the commands to Sit, down, stay and come. Next we will work on not having off my pants and jackets.

Billy the shiba update. Night two and he fell asleep by 6pm before we could even get him into his crate. Slept all night and was awake at 4am. It has been a relief that he has slept the past two nights and for sure this will probably change, I’m just pleased to have got two pretty decent nights sleep.
Billy went out came when I called him (I hope this stays as it’s so cool when he looks up when I call his name) had a play tried to destroy his soft crate and by 5am was asleep again. #ShibaBilly #shibainu

Mostly ready for new puppy Billy’s arrival tomorrow. Pen and crate set up in lounge room & of course I had to put his name over the company label. My heat press and printer are packed away so I couldn’t make him a proper ID badge so I ended up printing him some on paper and then laminated them four times & also made lots of different designs. Should be ok for a while. #ShibaBilly

One more sleep until puppy arrives. Today the breeder sent me photos of him having a bath and nails clipped.
House has now been transformed into a puppy play pen.
