@Guy yes! I’ve gone through all this so much too since starting #ClimateDiary - realising just how completely unobservant i’ve been most of my life about all this. Many others too - an ongoing theme. But have learned a lot from others- #Phenology #ShiftingBaselineSyndrome etc

@outi “people live so much in the moment and don’t really remember the past”. that is so, so true. And we don’t now have a “deep history” culture that could compensate for that; modernity so much about the present. This matters so much with regard to the #ClimateCrisis - and as you say, #ShiftingBaselineSyndrome
is one aspect of that

This is a fascinating thread about the ecological + social vandalism in 17th century England, that was the draining of the #Lincolnshire #Fens- comparable in some ways to the draining of the marshes in southern Iraq.

We live with the consequences still.
