I got two #vaccination shots (#flu and first round of #shingles) on Friday morning. No reactions or problems at the time.

~24 hours later and now still at 68 hours later and I noticed I have a red, warm area *near* but not *at* the injection site. A palm-sized area on my upper arm, 4-6 inches below the site.

Not itchy, painful, raised or bumpy. Just red and warm.

Got the second shot of shingrix vaccine against shingles yesterday and now have a strong immune response - mild 'flu like symptoms and general lassitude, so it is clearly working! There is evidence that it protects not just against shingles but also reduces the risk of dementia, so definitely worth it.

Shingrix (GSK) is a new vaccine given as a 2-dose series and said to be over 90% effective in preventing shingles in adults 50 and older. My wife (61) had her first dose yesterday and the side-effects are right up there with the worst of the Covid shots: high fever, sore muscles all over, and feeling worn out. Surely better than getting shingles, though. #shingles #vaccination

Hey there everyone who has had the #ChickenPox. #Shingles does not always come with excruciating pain.

So, don't look for that as a critical determining factor if that rash is shingles.

You also don't need to be over 50 or 60.

Also, #CoronaVirus has this great feature where is goes through your body and wakes all those those viruses laying dormant in you.

So, chicken pox becomes shingles. Epstein Barr (mononucleosis) becomes MS. Now this might happen anyway, but #COVID pours a bit of gas on that fire.

I would like to thank everyone that decided that not treating disease, climate change and pollution for creating this new reality where the old rules from the stable world don't really apply. Good job.

It's nasty. My father had it, on top of his leukaemia. That gave me a heads-up, and I got vaccinated this year.

Here in Australia the Medicare-free version is only 50% effective, and lasts just 5 years. IE: useless. So I dug deep and shelled out $500 that I didn't have for the 95% lifetime-effective "Shingrix" vaccine. Worth it!
