Got the second shot of shingrix vaccine against shingles yesterday and now have a strong immune response - mild 'flu like symptoms and general lassitude, so it is clearly working! There is evidence that it protects not just against shingles but also reduces the risk of dementia, so definitely worth it.

The #shingrix vax (2nd dose) is a surprise. Got the shot at 10AM this morning. Happily worked my day until 5:30PM, ate dinner, watched a movie… exactly 12 hrs later, I’m lying in bed w/ 3 blankets and a water bottle, wearing a toque shivering uncontrollably. CANNOT. GET. Got my second shingles vaccine shot yesterday and today all I can say is “ow, my bones.” Exactly the same reaction I had to shot 1, body aches that are manageable with otc pain reliever. Getting shingles increases your risk of having a stroke. Given that shingles itself has a whole raft of symptoms that are no fun, getting the shingles vaccine should be a no-brainer.

Yes, the vaccine can have miserable side effects. But having had shingles twice and also having a miserable time after my Shingrix jab, I can say with authority that wharever side effects you might get from the vaccine are nothing compared to getting shingles.

I have never had a #vaccine reaction like I have had to dose #1 of #Shingrix.

Fever, aches, fatigue, soreness, chills, and now sweaty chills.

And, yes, I have been testing negative for COVID through all of it.

I thought it was the TDAP vaccination that did me in October. Turns out it was the Shingrix shot. Because I got the second one yesterday, and wooo have I been achy today. And now I have the shivers something fierce.

Today I got my second #shingrix vaccine. I anticipate that tomorrow will be uncomfortable, but I'm so happy to be #vaccinated! #Shingles is the absolute worst.

Feeling a bit better today. My fever broke sometime last night. I did wake up with my lower back being super pissed at me. But I've decided to take some IBP today for some relief. One day of #vaccine immune system response is good enough right? 🙄

I don't want to live on the couch today if possible.
