The setting is post-apocalyptic, with a rural vibe similar to #ShinSekaiYori, though apparently big cities also exist here. Oh, and people can no longer use fire unless they extract it from the bodies of forest monsters. I... think, yeah. Interesting concept.

Anne is actually a very believable protagonist: she's an okay person who grew up in a world of slave owners, and although she's decent enough to understand that it sucks (thanks to her mother), she's ALSO a product of this society, not unlike Saki in #ShinSekaiYori, one of my all-time favorite #anime. Will #SugarAppleFairyTale be just as frank and merciless as #ShinSekaiYori? Good question, I have no idea.
