I really like the idea of a #ShippingContainer #music studio, but I lack the skillsets (and/or buddies) to do such a conversion myself. This is one of the better short videos on the process and budget and pitfalls encountered.

What I really need is not a full studio, but an outbuilding set up for jams, practices, and live recording/streaming. Bonus if the walls could open up for a live performance space.

Todays job is shelf building. I planed some more pine 2x4s from rough sawn lumber we milled back in fall 2021 and has been air drying since.

Aiming to extend this shelving unit that I built last week down one side. I’ll be securing it to the shipping container again to make it extra strong.

Maxed out my credit to buy a Chandler RS124 compressor and a Flea U47 mic to add to our studio. Sound quality and performance have improved massively. Scary, but has given us a kick up the ass to keep creating and pushing on.

Pros and cons of being an indie artist - pro is that you have complete creative control, con is it’s up to you when you create and there is no set timeframe.

When we first aquired a #shippingcontainer it was for a mega daft project in 2014 called March of the Robots.
It was a Roving Robot Lab. With a STEAM PUNK time travelling artist/maker in residence - Stephen Reid (Minecraft/3D Printing)
We travelled to places in Leeds, with the RobotLab, visiting people, hearing their stories about where they lived and what used to be made there. We collected parts for a giant 'Iron Man' Style Robot to be made on Light Night with artist Mark Haig.
