Invention of the transistor

📅 On December 23, 1947, the work of a semiconductor triode amplifier based on a germanium crystal, which was later named a transistor, was demonstrated at Bell Laboratories in New Jersey. In 1956, the authors of the discovery of the transistor effect, William Shockley, John Bardeen and Walter Brattain, won the Nobel Prize in Physics.
